Over five million iPhone 5s sold in début weekend. Apple is blaming supply constraints for holding back sales. Analysts had been forecasting between 6 and 8 million units for the launch, so it has not exceeded expectations so far.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.” –Tom Cook, Apple’s chief executive.
Apple reported receiving over 2million pre-launch orders in first 24 hours. But the company have admitted that some of the people who ordered iPhone 5s before launch may not receive them until October. (They claim, the majority have been shipped though.)
With Apple claiming that over a 100 million of their customer has upgraded their operating system,iOS 6 (in spite of the trouble it’s had with new map app).
